Priest Rapes Teen & Church Asks Victim To Apologize To Priest’s Wife

In shocking news, a teen girl who was raped by a youth pastor in Ohio, has been told by church officials to apologize to her rapist’s wife…

Brian Mitchell, a North Olmsted youth pastor, could spend a minimum of a decade in prison for brutally raping a 16-year-old girl, a member of his youth church.

Mitchell, 31, has pleaded guilty to four counts of sexual battery. According to multiple reports, Mitchell groomed and sexually abused the teen on at least two separate incidents.

Recounting her horrific experience at the hands of the demented youth pastor, the unnamed teen girl wrote in a letter that was read at court:

“I did not give him permission. I clearly said no, I didn’t want to.”

Stories of youth pastors sexually exploiting minors is nothing new, or shamefully, out of the ordinary, however, the details of this particular event are more heinous than most.

To make matters worse for the young victim, officials at the Columbia Road Baptist Church blamed and shamed the girl, forbidding her entire family from attending services until she apologized to the youth pastor’s wife.

The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports:

“The girl’s mother said in court that church officials told her their family couldn’t return to the church until she apologized to Mitchell’s wife.”

You heard that right… Church officials have actually demanded that the teenage victim apologize to the youth pastor’s wife for being raped by her husband. The only way to describe this is despicable.

The family has since left the church, as you can probably imagine.

The church even had the audacity to show sympathy for the rapist. The former pastor has received around three dozen letters of support from other church members.

In a damage control attempt, officials at the Columbia Road Baptist Church made a post to their Facebook page after the Pastor’s arrest, reading in part:

“… the accusation that an apology was required from the victim or her family to return was a result of a serious misunderstanding and does not reflect what actually transpired.”

The church’s Facebook page has since been deleted, what a surprise…

On the church website the following cryptic message can be found:

“In regard to recent news stories featuring our church, Columbia Road Baptist Church has fully cooperated with the authorities and have nothing to add.”

The Bottom line here is that any organization that would blame and shame a rape victim is morally vacant, deserving only scorn, contempt and whatever else we can throw at it.
